Description

Burst pipe, saturated carpet and rising mould risk — assessed, dried, restored and documented for the insurer.

A burst pipe under a Sandringham kitchen went unnoticed overnight and soaked the carpet through the adjoining dining and living areas. The owner had already tried towels and a pedestal fan, which is the most common mistake we see: the pile dries, but the backing, underlay and subfloor stay wet for weeks and mould takes hold.

We attended the same day and carried out a full moisture assessment, including areas of hidden damage under the skirting line and beneath the underlay. Saturated underlay was removed and disposed of, the subfloor was dried and treated, and the carpet was lifted, cleaned and dried under controlled conditions.

Every stage was photographed and documented with moisture readings so the owner had a clear record to submit with the insurance claim. Where material could be salvaged, we salvaged it; where it couldn’t, we said so and quoted the replacement honestly.

The carpet was refitted and the room was back in use within the week, with no mould, no lingering odour and no repeat callout.
