Description

Ten-year-old pure wool carpet with heavy traffic lanes and pet staining, brought back without stripping the lanoline.

A Beaumaris family called us about a pure wool broadloom carpet through the hallway and living areas that hadn’t been professionally cleaned in years. Traffic lanes had greyed off, and two dogs had left urine marks in the corners of the lounge.

Wool needs a different approach to nylon. A pre-inspection confirmed the fibre and backing, and we used a mild active surfactant matched to natural fibre rather than a high-alkaline product, which would strip the lanoline and leave the carpet feeling harsh. Urine areas were treated with a decontamination solution and flushed properly at the backing, not just the surface, so the odour didn’t return once the heating came on.

The carpet was hot water extracted, groomed and left almost dry before we packed up. The client walked on it the same afternoon.
